Just a Minute in August

Reading
I’m working my way through the Blue Bloods series, by Melissa Marr – I’m currently reading the third book, Revelations. I’m not really enjoying the series but I’m stubborn, and I’ll keep reading until it’s finished. I think the series would be perhaps a little better if it weren’t burried in fashion labels.

Listening
Here is the part where I hang my head in shame – I’ve been slightly obsessed with Alexander Rybak of late. He won Eurovision (with the highest score ever recorded) in 2009. I have never even seen Eurovision before, however, my dear friends introduced me to him and recently I got hooked in his sleezy and ridiculous music. While I think it is completely ridiculous, I also happen to really enjoy it. It’s great for a laugh.

Wanting
For Summer to never arrive (Summer is always just too hot for me), and for this weekend to hurry up and start (I know, it’s only Tuesday)! This weekend I’m going on an adventure with an old friend from high school and I’m really looking forward to seeing her again. I also really want to get the original three Star Wars movies on DVD… I haven’t watched them in probably over a decade, and I have been wanting to watch them again for a while now.

Making
Lists. Lots of lists. They remind me of all the things I need to do. My notebooks are currently getting a workout, to say the least.

Loving
The fact that there are less than 3 weeks of school left until the next holidays. Then there is only one term left until the lovely, long, Christmas holidays! I like time off of work (don’t we all?).

The Blue Flower

Closing the door he heaved a sigh. Work, society in general, was just all too frustrating and stressful. His home was his only safe-haven now and even it had reached a stage of such high tension he no longer felt safe or calm there. Slipping his arms out of the long jackets sleeves, he threw it haphazardly over his now disused television. The black box staring lifelessly out from under his jacket made the hairs on the back of his neck prickle. Shaking his head, he grunted as his shaggy head of light brown hair left a few tresses across his face. Flicking the tresses out of his blue eyes, partly out of habit now, he opened the kitchen curtain and let the fading sunlight filter in.

Reed Anderson lived a lonely life indeed, but it hadn’t always been like that. He lived in country Ireland, far away from most civilisations. Growing up, his parents had sent him to the little local school where he had always been the outcast. He had one friend though, one friend who he could always count on.

Frankie Magazine on ABC News Online

frankie magazine

Three and a half weeks ago marked the start of term 3, and back to work for this Millie-monster! This means I have been a little busy (and I’ve also had computer troubles), however, I have been working on my layout and a few other background things – so I hadn’t completely neglected my blog, just neglected updating. I’ve missed it though, so I am back even though I haven’t quite finished setting things up.

That is partly to do with an email I recieved from a friend recently though. I was pretty excited when I read her email with a link to a news article on the ABC (Australia) website, using one of my photos, for a story about Frankie Magazine.

That was a lovely email to wake up to, and a good way to start the day ♥

Midweek Inspiration

I’m dreaming of the weekend already, wishing it would arrive faster, and last forever. My ideal weekend would be to spend some time curled up by the open fireplace with a good book, and the rest of my time having adventures with my friends ♥ What would be your ideal weekend?

xx

Kylie Hajdu

Dragonflies by Kylie Hajdu (meikahidenori)

Kylie Hajdu is an artist whom I think is someone very talented and definitely worthy of a mention! Kylie and I actually went to high school together, although she was a year above me. It was her that initially inspired me to at least give art a go. I didn’t believe that I was ever any good, but she took me under her wing and gave me a few tips and words of encouragement – she told me that if I kept practicing I would improve. Through that encouragement, I discovered that I really do enjoy art, and this is where I am now.

I should warn you, that some of her art is perhaps not safe for work, or some people may find some of it offensive – but I really enjoy looking through her Deviant Art Gallery, and she recently pointed out to me that she has a Web Comic. She also takes commissions, so you should check out her art work!

You’re All Stars In My Eyes

I’m not always good at communicating what is on my mind, does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who feels this way and I know that it simply can’t be the case. I only seem capable of channeling one emotion at a time (otherwise I feel like I’m going to self-combust) and then there is the issue of most communication these days is online. Whether it is blogging, Facebook, Twitter, Emails, chatting clients – and you can use all the emoticons you like, but you can’t really read the emotion someone intends.

That being said, right now I would like to express my appreciation to my followers here, but also to my friends who are a part of my real life – those I meet up with and see with some level of frequency. I know I’m not always the greatest friend, but I do appreciate each and every one of you. You each bring something different to my life and that makes it interesting, and sometimes I do undervalue you and I always feel dreadful when I realise later or it is pointed out to me. I have trouble putting these things into words when I see you all, and I know this still probably isn’t very good, but I needed to say it somehow.

To my dear followers – thank you ♥ I’m working on some special things for you all right now, that I do hope you will love.

I’m not very good at expressing it – but I want you to know that you are all stars in my eyes ♥
